Gaming and Tactile Technology for Young Learners

 Let's Explore a Tactile Technology!

We know that learning is accelerated when children have meaningful hands-on experiences. As educators, we strive to create fun, engaging, and differentiated lessons for students while incorporating technology in the classroom. Today, I will share two technology platforms that support diverse learners using gaming and tactile technology.

You may be wondering, "What is tactile technology?" In a classroom setting, tactile technology is the ability to acquire new information through devices that require touch and manipulation of objects.

One program that is excellent for young learners is Osmo.

Award-Winning Educational Games System for iPad | Osmo

Osmo is a technology program that uses hands-on learning games in which users use real-world objects to interact with the digital world on their iPad or Fire Tablet. Osmo makes a wide variety of games that help children explore concepts and learn in a fun and engaging way.

My daughter loves the Pizza Co. platform of Osmo. When she was in second grade, she needed a bit more practice with the concept of money. Pizza Co. was excellent in that it provided her with a tactile and engaging way to apply real-world skills.

Take a look at the fantastic ways Osmo engages young learners.

Osmo can be used in the classroom in a small group setting with guidance from the teacher. Once students are experienced and understand how the game works, they can use Osmo, a center where students work together while practicing new skills.

Prodigy Education for Young Learners

Game-Based Leader Prodigy Education Announces Major Expansion with Launch of Prodigy English
Prodigy Education is an educational gaming platform for both math and reading. Prodigy is standards-aligned and geared for students in grades 1-8. The program combines learning with play to motivate students to practice, learn, and grow new skills in math and reading. The program uses an algorithm that adapts to each child's learning pace, providing them with a unique learning experience.

My son is eight years old and loves playing Prodigy Math. The gameplay allows children to select a character, embark on quests, battles, and spells, and earn rewards throughout the game.

Take a look at Prodigy Math and how it engages young learners.

I hope you have enjoyed exploring these fun and engaging gaming and tactile technology programs for young learners. Osmo and Prodigy provide students an interactive and dynamic way to practice and learn new skills.
